Drunk Guy, wobbling: Wow. That nod was very succinct. It was like "hey, how's it going," but at the same time "I have been approached by too many guys tonight so keep your distance." Is that about right?
Ish: You're in the right ballpark, yeah.

Last night I made my Very First Trip to the Gay Bar. (Yeah, I know, I've been legal almost two years and I've only just lost my gay bar virginity.) I expected it to be a "How Soon Is Now" experience but it ended up being real live fun!

So here I am all happy and sleepy (I've been up nearly 24 hours ugh what is that) and not even sick to my stomach and I got new ~fronds out of the experience to boot. Possibly only for one night, but you know? I'm cool with that. I didn't expect it to go nearly as well as it did, and I'm probably gonna be psyched about it for the next millennium or so.

And also: Cute girl. With freckles. Danced with me. Laughed at my jokes. Held my hand. Played with my ears.*

The Muse Online Writers Conference: October 12 - 18th

"Our Online Writers Conference is aimed to offer you, the writer, whatever resource we can to give you the opportunity to enhance and better your craft, to offer the opportunity to make some contacts to get you to that next level all writers seek and that is to be published.

My vision for organizing this first ever Online Writers Conference as an annual affair is to bring the writing world a bit closer for you. I understand many writers out there do not have the monetary resources to attend outside conferences, or perhaps they are situated very far and even some may be incapacitated in some ways making it difficult for them to travel. Within the world of the Internet, everything is possible and with this in mind I offer you this chance to come out, have a chat with our Presenters, ask them questions and even attend a few of our FREE workshops to be held throughout the week."

Registration is just joining a YahooGroup (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/2009MuseConference/) by August 1, and it's free, so it might be worth checking into. I've signed up! :)

Okay, for the last 24 to 36 ish hours I've been unable to send any email from my yahoo account, other than replying to LJ comments. When I hit send on an email it tells me:

The 'send feedback' and 'contact us' option in the help menu aren't actually opening anything. Anyone?

As of 2 am EDT on 7/12, 22 hours before the deadline, 103 stories are posted, 114 are outstanding (with no indication that they will be late; 2 of those are pinch hits I am working on), and 18 people have requested (and been granted) an extension.

I really hope those 112 stories are posted tomorrow (I know I am good for the two on my plate sometime this week.)

Happy birthday, annearchy. Sorry that you can't come to the HOB tonight -- it would've been awesome to celebrate your birthday with you. :(

I've decided that I'm going to marathon the first two series of Torchwood (as well as the four audios) before I finally sit down and watch the new episodes. And it's only partly based on the fact that my poor laptop won't exactly play video files at the moment. (Hopefully it will work much better once I've replaced the battery, erased everything on it, and completely reformatted the hard drive, what with the fact that I'm hoping to still be able to use it when I'm traveling for job interviews and, you know, Vividcon.) The main reason is because I want to make sure that I remember just why I loved the first two series of the show before I watch whatever new things canon has to throw at me.

So, yes, that's my plan for the next few days. I'm off work on Monday, and I'm probably not going to move from beside the door where I'll be able to see immediately if the FedEx truck actually arrives. Not that I expect it to get here that quickly, what with them losing my brand new computer, but still. I can dream, right? Besides, if I leave the house for even five minutes I know for a fact that they'll show up and leave me a note saying they'll be back another day.

Seriously. It's like, there are the children, who are Eliot/Hardison/Parker, and it's a very good thing that they aren't actually children, because I have not seen people crying out for OT3 since before Lost went off the rails. They make me glee and bounce and clap my hands together.

And then there is the Nate and Sophia story, and...Lord A'mighty, it is a good thing that Timothy Hutton and Gina Bellman are such fantastic actors, because Nate is out of his fucking mind with the drunken crazy. But he just breaks my heart.

Yes, I am watching the S1 finale and wanting to reach through the screen so that I might pull them all to my bosom, why do you ask?

Spent the day with the fam. Met up with my brother and his family and my sister's kids at Central Park (my brother has a very fluid notion of time - you can count on him to be anywhere from twenty minutes to two hours late to anything), where we went to the zoo (polar bears! penguinis, puffins! snow leopards! red pandas! tamarins!). A bird of some sort divebombed Anthony's head in the rainforest exhibit, and Alyssa was freaked out by the bats, but overall, it was awesome. Then we picnicked by the fountain, and took rowboats out on the lake.

Then we came out to my parents' house and had cake and coffee for our birthdays - technically two cakes since there are two birthdays, Dom's is Tuesday and mine is Wednesday. Much hilarity that wouldn't translate well to this venue (i.e., too much context is needed) was had.

Now I am trying to sort through all the remix admin that's piled up. And then I have to write.

Wait a sec... one of the main plot points of Princes Diaires II is that Chris Pine's uncle is trying to pimp him out? HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also his hair is so ridiculously fluffy, I want to pet him.

And someone should write a Princess Diaries II/Merlin crossover involving Chris Pine's character/Arthur.
